The Mondatta Funk Explosion

Founding members Mark Howes and Chris Griggs had a vision of bringing the FUNK sounds of the 60's and 70's to Norwich, tearing the roof of the mother in the process. In previous line-ups they played at the King Street music festival and headlined the UEA.

With a number of changes on the bass they finally found the child of Motown's James Jameson, Kieran Brennan and slotted him into the mix of wah-wah and punchy funk rhythms. At a rehearsal they stumbled across a jazz poster with Miss Lauren Dove's detail, they called her up and were blown away by the dirty funk and soul in her voice. They were now a unit.

Twice they have supported local funk legends Speedometer at the Arts Centre. Recently they have  won the Livewire Student Radio battle of the bands, received air play on Radio One and opened the Lord Mayor's festival in Chaplefield.

Small Town Bullies

The Small Town Bullies play tight, danceable groove-based funk, with lush horn lines and cheeky little twists. Hailing from Woodbridge in Suffolk, they have rocked the dance floor at such venues as Jamm in Brixton, The Maze in Nottingham, and the Aldeburgh Pumphouse. They have twice supported legendary Israeli funk group The Apples.
